Getting Tested with the Previstage™ GCC Colorectal Cancer Staging Test

The Previstage™ GCC Colorectal Cancer Staging Test is performed on lymph nodes removed during your colorectal cancer surgery. Your lymph nodes are preserved in paraffin (wax) and stored at the hospital for testing and diagnostic purposes. When your physician orders Previstage™ GCC, the pathologist at the hospital sends your lymph nodes to DiagnoCure Oncology Laboratories to be tested.

Can I order Previstage™ GCC myself?

Your physician has to order Previstage™ GCC, and the pathologist must send your lymph nodes to DiagnoCure Oncology Laboratories testing. This is the only way we can have access to your lymph nodes.

Is Previstage™ GCC available from other laboratories?

No. DiagnoCure Oncology Laboratories, a CLIA-certified laboratory, is the only laboratory that performs the Previstage™ GCC Colorectal Cancer Staging Test. The test was developed and validated by DiagnoCure Oncology Laboratories, and the quality of the testing is fully controlled by DiagnoCure Oncology Laboratories using the most stringent laboratory guidelines.

What should I do if my doctor is not familiar with Previstage™ GCC?

It is possible that your doctor is not sufficiently informed about Previstage™ GCC because it is a new test. If you would like to be tested with Previstage™ GCC, you can print the information sheet (Information for my doctor PDF) and bring it to him or her. We will be pleased to answer any questions he or she may have.

How long after my surgery should my lymph nodes be tested with Previstage™ GCC?

Normally, if your cancer is stage I or II, your lymph nodes should be tested using the Previstage™ GCC test within a few weeks after your surgery. If you had your surgery more than two months ago, your doctor will determine if it is still beneficial for you to have your lymph nodes tested.

Is Previstage™ GCC covered by insurance companies or Medicare?

Previstage™ GCC is a new test. It is covered by some insurance companies, and the process for Medicare coverage is underway. Contact our Patient Billing Department (at 877-701-9007, option 2) to get the latest coverage information. If your insurance does not yet cover the test, you may have other options. We believe that financial considerations should not be an obstacle to getting tested. That is why DiagnoCure Oncology Laboratories has set-up a Patient Assistance Program.

Can I get tested with Previstage™ GCC if I live in a country other than the United States?

Yes. You can be tested with Previstage™ GCC if your doctor agrees to send your lymph nodes to DiagnoCure Oncology Laboratories, following the specific instructions provided by the laboratory. Advance payment will be required.
